Many campus units offer funding to support undergraduate research. We have identified a few examples below. However, you should also speak to your faculty mentor and academic unit about other possible funding sources.
Campus Funding Opportunities
The Department of Anthropology offers a number of awards to support undergraduate research and other academic pursuits for students in their program.
The Department of Biology offers several undergraduate scholarships and awards to help students fund their academic and research pursuits
Chemistry majors are eligible to apply for summer undergraduate research scholarships. These scholarships are intended for undergraduates already engaged in research activities who can benefit from essentially full-time summer research.
EAS Student Conference Award to assist current IU Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) students in conference travel.
The Department of Mathematics offers the William P. Ziemer Student Assistance Fund to provide undergraduate and/or graduate scholarship support, conference attendance, and program-related travel expenses.
HHC offers grants and awards to all qualified IUB undergraduates to explore and innovate, including the Research Grant, Creative Activity Grant, and HHC Travel Grant.
The Program in Animal Behavior awards two summer study scholarships to outstanding Animal Behavior majors at IU Bloomington to help defray costs of travel and fees for summer field courses, internships, or research experiences in fields relevant to the study of animal behavior.
RTP Grants are available for IU undergraduate or graduate student research in the environmental sciences (e.g., ecology, geology, atmospheric science, human-environment interactions) at IU RTP properties.
The Integrated Program in the Environment offers Sustainability Research Development Grants to undergraduate students to develop new, externally funded research programs related to research on sustainability.
