Happy New Year! This issue continues to offer different conference and research opportunities both within IU’s own campus and beyond. This issue expands on multidisciplinary summer research opportunities, as deadlines are rapidly approaching for many of these summer experiences. We encourage students who either already have research experiences under their belt or students who are interested in starting to look through these opportunities and think about getting involved for the summer.
Rose Nicholson is currently involved in the Ragsdale Laboratory, researching “linking mechanisms of behavior and morphology in the model organism Pristionchus pacificus.” Her broader research interest focuses on using genetic tools to address issues related to animal conservation. She began her research experience in the ASURE program, and found the Ragsdale Laboratory through the Biology Club’s Research Night.
The IU Center for Research on Race & Ethnicity in Society holds an Undergraduate Research Program in the Social Sciences and Humanities, allowing students to become involved in research under the mentorship of IU faculty. The program provides stipends to students for their work and hosts workshops and training for students including how to create a CV, design poster presentations, and more. IU Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program
Now accepting applications for the 2024 summer cohort of scholars! The LSAMP program aims to assist in diversifying the STEM workforce, resulting in the graduation of well-prepared, highly-qualified students from underrepresented groups pursuing graduate education or careers in STEM. IU STEM Summer Research Program
Now accepting applications for the summer of 2024. The program encourages women, first generation, students from historically excluded racial and ethnic groups, and students with high financial need to apply. The deadline to apply is March 3. University of Utah Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR)
Now open for applications for a 10-week summer research experience in a variety of disciplines. The application is due January 28th at 11:59 pm MST. For more information on potential 2024 projects and the application portal please visit the SPUR website.
2024 Scholarship and Social Justice Undergraduate Research Conference
Now accepting applications, due February 12, 2024. If you are conducting research focused on historically marginalized and underrepresented communities and challenges facing society today on equity and inclusion you can submit a proposal for presentation.
