What are Undergraduate Research Ambassadors?
Indiana University Bloomington’s Undergraduate Research Ambassadors (URA) are a team of researchers dedicated to helping students get involved in research and creative activity in multi-disciplinary fields across campus. The URA team will represent a variety of disciplines to promote diverse opportunities to other undergraduate students. The goal of the program is to provide all students interested in research with the tools and resources needed to explore their interests and build competencies towards their academic and professional goals and careers.
What do Undergraduate Research Ambassadors do?
- Promote undergraduate research opportunities
- Facilitate workshops and informational sessions
- Participate in roundtable or panel discussions
- Visit classes, student groups, and organizations to spread the word about research opportunities and events
- Mentoring/ providing advising to students including holding “office hours”
- Participate in IUJUR Research Day, Student Involvement Fairs, Majors Minors & More Fair, IUURC, IUUR Summer Poster Symposium, Welcome Week, and other campus events
- Serve as student advisory board member for IUUR
- Write blog posts or spotlights about UR on campus

- Paid opportunity: $ per hour paid bi-weekly as a university student employee with an option to have this position as a Federal Work-Study employee if student has FWS
Qualifications
- Applications are open to students in all majors who have conducted two semesters OR one full summer of undergraduate research, creative activity, or discipline specific scholarly work at IU
- Must attend mandatory training and meetings every month
